How do I show or hide fields when creating a new record in Thynk?
By Thynk· Published · Updated
On Thynk Lightning record pages, use a Visibility Filter on Created By Username (Equals blank to show on create, Does Not Equal blank to show only on edit) so fields and sections appear only when needed.

Thynk is powered and hosted by Salesforce, so Lightning record pages let hotel and venue admins control which fields and sections appear when someone creates a new record, such as a new Account. That keeps create screens focused on what sales teams need at the start, and leaves detail sections for later editing.
To show a field or section only when a record is being created:
- Open the Lightning record page in Edit Page.
- Select the field or section you want to control.
- Add a Visibility Filter, then open Advanced.
- Set the filter to Record → Created By → Username, choose Equals, and leave the value blank.
- Save. A blank Created By Username means the record does not yet exist, so the component appears on create.
To show a field or section only after the record exists (on edit), use the same path but choose Does Not Equal and leave the value blank. Sections such as Commission can stay hidden on the New Account form and appear once the account is saved.
This pattern works across Thynk objects that use Lightning record pages, so multi-property hospitality teams can keep create layouts clean without maintaining separate record types only for that purpose.
